The New Age newspaper of 2 February 2012 quoted Minister of Arts and Culture Paul Mashatile as saying, “We have no problem with supporting the Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel …”

The SAJBD as a matter of policy always seeks to hear from all sides when establishing the facts of a situation. Hence, we wrote to Mr Mashatile asking him to clarify his remarks as reported in the press.

Mr Mashatile’s office has since gotten back to us to set up a meeting for next week. Once this has taken place, we will report back on what was discussed.
