Statement regarding the abuse of Holocaust imagery and terminology
The SA Jewish Board of Deputies is disturbed by the flippant use of Holocaust imagery and terminology for personal or political agendas and to vent frustrations at current situations.
This increasing trend is causing great offense and hurt to those affected by the horrific genocide of the late 1930's to mid 1945.
It is most unfortunate that the memory of this heinous crime against humanity is being distorted by the misuse of these highly emotive terms.
The recent incident in Bet Shemesh in Israel, where Holocaust images were abused to stress current political views is deeply offensive and regrettable, as are other instances where this practice is occurring.
